Get Involved
There are a number of ways you can get involved with The Hub:
Join Our Mailing List
We will begin sending out an electronic newsletter shortly. For now, send an email request to info [at] thehubbahamas [dot] org. We'll add you to our email list and notify you of our upcoming events.
And tell your friends about The Hub - encourage them to sign up as well. We promise not to deluge you with information you do not want. The Hub does not utilize other Bahamas arts list services, so this is the exclusive place to get information about The Hub's activities.
Volunteer
We're always seeking volunteers. Volunteers can have many roles at The Hub, ranging from the development of programs to helping to 'staff' the gallery on open days. The Hub is a communal activity, and all are encouraged to get involved. Contact us to find out more about immediate needs and opportunities. Generally, Hub volunteers meet Fridays at 6pm to talk about what's going on and what needs to get done -- please consider joining us!
Here are some examples of where we can use both regular or project-related help from the community:
- Construction/Installation: helping to build or remodel The Hub's space. Expertise in carpentry, electrical especially appreciated, but not required!
- Gallery Attendant: being present during open hours to ensure the public has access to visual arts shows
- Event helpers: helping out by selling tickets or refreshments for the various one-night events at The Hub
- Office assistance
hang out and Get creative!
Many activities at the Hub are participatory. For example, you can join us on alternating Sundays, starting at 3pm, and hang with the folks from Sperit, The Hub's Junkanoo scrap group. At 6, bring a musical instrument (or just yourself) and jam with the Mixed Nuts, our "in-house band." See our events page for dates.
In-Kind Donations
As a non-profit organization, we're always looking for help in improving our space and our programs. Here are some items we would welcome donations in:
- Building Supplies (recycled materials accepted gladly)
- Tools
- Folding chairs
- Refreshments for event nights
- Toilet Paper & Cleaning supplies
- Ladders
- Garbage Cans
- Projector
- Refrigerator
